📝 Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 170C grease and line 900g loaf tin
  2. 2 Chop dates roughly
  3. 3 Pour boiling water over dates and bicarb stir and cool 10 mins
  4. 4 Beat butter and sugar until creamy
  5. 5 Beat in eggs one at a time
  6. 6 Fold in flour
  7. 7 Stir in date mixture with liquid
  8. 8 Fold in chopped walnuts
  9. 9 Pour into tin
  10. 10 Bake 50-55 mins until skewer clean
  11. 11 Cool in tin 15 mins then on rack
  12. 12 Slice thickly serve with butter
